Ideally situated on the Mouille Point promenade, Cape Town’s own “platinum mile”, in close proximity to Sea Point and the V&A Waterfront, La Splendida brings a Miami Beach inspired style to Mouille Point providing fantastic accommodation in Cape Town.

Offering ‘affordable chic’ with plenty mountain and sea views, La Splendida combines convenience, contemporary styling and well-priced rates in a smart, boutique hotel package. Just five minutes from the V&A Waterfront, Cape Town’s CBD and the city’s buzzing hotspots, the hotel is ideal for both business and leisure travellers and has all the amenities and service requirements modern travellers demand.

With a refurbishment undergone by well-known hotels specialist Francois du Plessis, who has been in the decorating industry for 31 years, the space is a light and bright improvement of its former self.
The boutique offering has three floors and a total of 24 en-suite rooms, including five spacious family premium rooms, all of which were completely refurbished.

With plenty of glamorous touches in reference to its art deco heritage, du Plessis incorporated a lot of second hand art-deco furniture which gives the hotel a unique characteristic. “The brief was for a ‘Miami’ Beach experience. We sourced a lot of 1950’s and 1960’s furniture from various second hand shops, and we painted everything white with bright accent colours popping out in all the bedrooms. A young and vibrant clientele followed.”

Each floor is coded with colour, splashed subtly throughout, adding a sense of humour and zing to each premium room. Du Plessis incorporated the bright colours that he drew from the surroundings: blue from the great Atlantic, red, from the Mouille Point Light House and green from the newly developed Golf Course. “We tried to incorporate a very hip and retro vibe, which will appeal to the younger crowd,” explains du Plessis.

Says Newmark Hotels Managing Director Neil Markovitz “I’ve always felt that this hotel had an excellent and workable position and all it needed was a little love to bring it back to life.” With the hotel’s restaurant partner Sótano by Caveau, it is making quite a statement on Cape Town’s much loved promenade.

With value for money accommodation, breathing new life and style into the area, La Splendida is sure to make its mark on the city’s hotel landscape.
