Chardonnay Marchesi, General Manager of World Travel Market Africa graduated with a Marketing degree through the IMM Graduate School of Marketing. Through her experience working at HDI Youth Marketers, she assisted with campaigns aimed at the fast-changing dynamics of youth culture and their consumer behaviour.  It is here that she became involved in events and realised where her talents for the busy business of exhibitions lay.

In 2012 Chardonnay found her niche at the then named Thebe Exhibitions and Projects as a project manager on various events and exhibitions. Through this Chardonnay grew the Thebe Reed Exhibition portfolio and is now General Manager of WTM® Africa which takes place at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC) from 6 – 8 April. Chardonnays role is to manage the logistics, marketing and sales of the WTM® Africa portfolio and to ensure their continuous growth and popularity in the African travel and tourism industry thus contributing to the economic growth of the region.

Chardonnay believes Tourism forms an integral part of Africa’s economy and is steadily becoming one of the leading drivers for economic growth across the continent. Tourism leads to job creation, community upliftment and social development.
