These days, R30 cannot buy much. And when it comes to a fun family activity that is exciting and memorable, one normally expects to have to budget for the expense – but not so with the City Sightseeing Canal Cruise.

In an exciting new development, the City Sightseeing canal cruise boats will now run until 20h00, with a boat departing every 20 minutes from 09h00 and then every half hour from 17h00, offering a wonderful sunset cruise opportunity for R30 per adult and R10 per child – the most budget-friendly cruise on offer anywhere!

This unique hop-on, hop-off cruise offers a fun nautical adventure that adults and kids alike will love as you cruise along and experience the views of Table Mountain and the V&A Waterfront from a completely different angle.

“While this in not a 'booze' cruise, people are welcome to bring along their own sundowners to enjoy onboard the canal boat,” explains Claus Tworeck, chief executive of City Sightseeing Cape Town.

This is a hop-on, hop-off cruise, with five jetty points: behind the One & Only, City Lodge, Harbour Bridge, the Westin and the Cape Town International Convention Centre.

You may decide to spend some time at any of the stops along the way and rejoin a later boat, or use the bus and boat combination to connect Bus Stop 1, Two Oceans Aquarium and Bus Stop 3, Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC) in either direction. Whatever you do, do not miss out on this unique Cape Town experience.

Visitors and locals alike can cruise the calm waters of the canal and enjoy the breathtaking views of Cape Town while learning more about the rich and famous who own apartments along this canal and about the significance of this canal in once again joining the central business district to the harbour to complete what was once called the 'Tavern of the Seas' – when ships from all over the world stopped here to get fresh supplies.

The City Sightseeing canal cruise offers a great day out for the entire family, and kids in particular will love this exciting nautical adventure that is fun, different and memorable.

The City Sightseeing canal cruise starts from the jetty behind the One & Only, situated close to the Two Oceans Aquarium at the V&A Waterfront, which is the location of the City Sightseeing Tour Office. Buy tickets as you step onto the boat, from the Tour Office or online at www.citysightseeing.co.za. City Sightseeing can be contacted on +27 (21) 511 6000.
