Businesspeople will find there is no shortage of great golfing to be had all over South Africa. The country’s varied terrain and wide-open spaces make for some of the most memorable golfing in the world. But if you have not had quite enough time to strike that all-important deal on the course, you can always get your business done in style using excellent conference facilities before, between or after rounds.
Here are four golf courses that offer not only fantastic golfing but top-notch conferencing facilities for that ultimate golfing and business getaway:

Fancourt, Western Cape

There is no better haven for golfers than Fancourt. Set in the lush countryside of George on the beautiful Garden Route, it has three highly acclaimed championship golf courses designed by South Africa’s iconic golfing legend, Gary Player. If you can get yourself off the course, the Fancourt Conference Centre, which overlooks the Outeniqua course, is a fully equipped conference and event venue. With state-of-the-art audiovisual equipment and video conferencing, a 350-seater banquet hall and six meeting rooms, the centre has everything you could possibly need to accomplish your business needs.

St Francis Links, Eastern Cape

Situated in St Francis Bay, just an hour’s drive from Port Elizabeth, St Francis Links is the golfing jewel of the Eastern Cape. Voted best new course in South Africa by Golf Digest in 2007, and rated in the top ten courses in the country, the magnificent Jack Nicklaus-designed course provides links golfing at its best. This demanding course will reward the persistent, patient golfer, and the minimum of three tee locations for each hole means that golfers of varying skills can try their hand at the course. St Francis Links offers an excellent conference facility set in the clubhouse overlooking the golf course. Their multi-functional, fully air-conditioned conference room is available in various configurations that can accommodate up to 120 delegates.

Champagne Sports Resort, KwaZulu-Natal

Nestled at the foot of the Drakensberg Mountain Range, Champagne Sports Resort is the king of leisure and conferencing in KwaZulu-Natal. This 18-hole championship golf course is ranked amongst the top 30 in South Africa. Many years of thought, design and investment have resulted in a course that golfers travel far and wide to experience. Champagne Sports Resort is also the province’s conferencing Mecca. There are 16 conferencing venues available, including the Buttress Conference and Exhibition Centre, which seats up to 1 400 delegates. If your business needs are more humble, there is a range of more intimate venues that seat 150 delegates, and private boardrooms that seat up to 20 people.

Elements Private Golf Reserve, Limpopo

A 90-minute drive north of Pretoria, the estate lies in the magnificent Waterberg region of the Limpopo Province. The Peter Matkovich-designed course was recently rated in the top ten in South Africa for the second year running, and seamlessly blends the natural beauty of the surroundings in a way that is sensitive to the reserve’s ecology. The surrounding bushveld terrain varies between natural hillsides and open plains, with mountain views and perennial streams. The course meanders through a fertile valley of indigenous vegetation and artful landscaping with resident game that includes kudu, impala, blue Wildebeest, zebra, blesbok, red haartebeest and mountain reedbuck. The estate also has conferencing facilities for up to 80 delegates and the most state-of-the-art conferencing technology. If your business needs are small and exclusive, then this estate is the one for you.
