Priceless Retreat

Santé has the technology for complete wellness

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Santé Wellness Retreat & Spa, which is situated in the Franschhoek/Paarl Winelands region. The new owners, Ingrid and Graham Hindle and Keith Macmillan have transformed this gem completely and turned it into a destination with a unique offering.

They have not only upgraded and improved all the facilities—the spa and the 17 therapy rooms, the wellness retreat, the business centre, all the décor and the grounds—but, importantly, they have also introduced an overall approach that ensures guests are given the time, attention and holistic solutions to aid their recovery towards complete wellness.

What distinguishes Santé is its Health Optimizing Royal Retreat, which is the only one in the world, where leading-edge health optimising technologies are offered.

These modern therapies and technologies are interwoven with the range of what’s on offer, from delicious, nourishing food menus, natural products and a bioenergy centre to a carefully considered suite of packages and treatments.

As the only African premium member of the Healing Hotels of the World group, Santé is founded on combining expert scientific and holistic technologies with dynamic, organic and nutritious food and a fully comprehensive range of treatments. Ingrid Hindle explains: “While the upgrade was essential, what was even more important was how we could offer a completely holistic solution to our guests. We believe in the magical and dynamic power of food and we know that our health-optimising technologies are incredibly effective. We also recognise that you cannot isolate an issue, nor can you ignore the triggers and causes of any disease because it all needs to be assessed and understood so that the right wellness packages may then be recommended in order to promote future health.”

Health optimising

Hi-tech medical technologies (many are the first in Africa), including some within the fields of quantum and energy medicine, are directed by HealthTech Sciences in Norway. By understanding all-encompassing medical assessments where cellular, tissue and organ imbalances and dysfunction occur, and what the underlying trigger and causative factors are, health-optimising non-invasive treatments are then tailored for each client at Santé in order to correct imbalances and achieve effective results.

Thomas Aksnes, who founded Health Optimizing, has opened 209 health-optimising clinics around the world and he is particularly proud of this first Health Optimizing Royal Retreat at Santé: “What I like about the Santé offering is that guests and patients are given conducive surroundings to really focus on their health. By staying at Santé, they are given an even greater opportunity to find their path to full wellness,” says Aksnes.

Food and nutrition

Believing that nutritious food is the foundation of health, Santé offers nourishment through exquisite cuisine. Menus are designed by the Executive Chef, Terrence Ford, and feature fresh ingredients from the Santé kitchen garden, local bio-dynamic farmers and suppliers. Only real and unrefined foods are used, i.e. no sugar, dairy, gluten, preservatives, colourants or additives are used at all. This integrity spreads to the range of organic wines and spirits available at Santé.

In addition to health optimising and its food and menus, there is even more available at Sante.

The day spa

The facilities include steam rooms, hydrotherapy and vinotherapy baths, saunas, an indoor heated pool and Jacuzzi, a magical labyrinth and a fitness centre. There is an extensive spa menu, which includes four speciality packages: healthy ageing, detox, rejuvenate and relax.

Drawing upon ancient philosophies, this combines the attributes and properties of magnetic fields, colour, light and crystals with modern science. Healing takes place through the intervention of using electromagnetic waveforms to stimulate the body’s natural healing.

Accommodation includes 10 retreat suites, 20 spa suites and a deluxe retreat suite. Uncomplicated and serene luxury, generous hospitality and friendly service combine with delicious and honestly healthy cuisine.

Wellness packages

The Santé team and experts have designed a range of packages that help with stress, detoxing, rejuvenation and longevity.

Exercise and fitness

A variety of activities are offered including daily yoga classes, both group and personal, the use of a fully-equipped gym, early morning guided walks, including the Santé labyrinth walk, and mountain biking.

Business forum

This can accommodate up to 120 guests with four well-appointed breakaway meeting rooms of varying sizes. The business forum is fully equipped and also offers a private restaurant and bar, plus indoor and outdoor seating areas. As well as the delicious and healthy menu options available at Santé, business guests may participate in yoga, utilise the fitness centre and all that’s on offer at the day spa.

Santé is the ultimate sanctuary for anyone wanting to ‘discover extraordinary’ and find a path to true wellbeing, healing and rejuvenation. Santé will please people who are seeking simple rest and relaxation as well as those needing a more defined, dynamic and effective route to complete healing, health and wellness.

While everything at Santé may be new, what remains the same is the name itself. “We decided to retain the name ‘Santé’, as this is the cornerstone of what we offer—health,” concludes Ingrid Hindle.
