SA Tourism and the Tourism Enterprise Partnership (TEP) have announced the nine provincial finalists for the 2013 emerging Tourism Entrepreneur of the Year Awards (ETEYA).
The finalists were chosen from 27 provincial finalists announced last month. They represent various tourism businesses that proved to the judges that they contributed significantly to economic empowerment, offer an innovative product or service, and have a sound business plan to ensure continued growth and opportunity and expansion.
Each finalist will be assigned a mentor to work with them to implement their business plans, and will also be awarded a R10 000 grant towards the development of the business plan. Thulani Nzima, CEO at South African Tourism, said the business plan will take into account all of the elements covered during the months with the mentor as well as the feasibility of implementing the plan in an actual business environment.
The overall ETEYA winner will be announced at a national tourism awards ceremony in September and will receive R100 000 to help grow their business.
