World Leisure Holidays has been in the news of late for all the right reasons. Notably, the appointment of Ramesh Jeenarain to the helm as Managing Director, and the release of some pretty aggressive and new marketing campaigns, has had the travel trade sitting up to take notice of the noise coming out of South Africa’s leading island specialist operator.
The company’s new MD has his sleeves rolled up and is ready to rock and roll with some more of the same, and part of this rejuvenated drive is focussing on the development of the very people that keep the fires burning, the WLH team.
Talking at a recent meeting of the minds at World Leisure Holidays, the new man in charge said “Our people are our biggest asset. We are very fortunate to have a team of people with a diverse skill set and a wide variety of capabilities, so I intend to channel these talents effectively with the aim of further growing the business to better serve our industry. We are all about providing an environment in which our team members can grow and that sometimes means challenging them to reach their full potential. It is exciting times. Watch this space!” concluded Ramesh.
These exciting times that Ramesh talks about has taken shape in the past week with the swapping of roles in Sales and Marketing. Lesley Smith who has headed up the marketing team in recent times has moved over to take the position of Sales Manager whilst Cathie Bester, well known to the South African travel trade, has moved into the marketing role.
“I am ready to get my hands dirty out there in the trade with the sales team, but I will remain in close collaboration with Cathie as we learn from each other” enthused a very energetic Lesley. This was backed up by Cathie who advised how much she is looking forward to working with the various marketing partners at World Leisure to raise the company’s profile and that of their suppliers in the diverse World Leisure portfolio of destinations.
